Young Glass 2007

The Pillowbook Series  was selected for the prestigious Young Glass Award & Exhibition at the Ebbeltoft Museum in Denmark. The exhibition will open in June 2007 and continue touring. Australian glass artists selected as finalists for Young Glass 2007 include Lisa Cahill, Mel Douglas & Nicole Ayliffe. Curated by Ben Sewell, this exhibition featuring Lisa Cahill, Andrew Lavery, Morgan Shimeld and Zara Collins amoung others, displays the diversity & skill in Australian studio glass. Ranamok Glass Prize 2006

The Pillowbook Series was selected for the 2006 Ranamok Glass Prize. Zara used her signature technique of combining fine copper wire, fused inside of glass. “The original drawings on the ‘Art of Love’ were suppressed by the ruling Dynasty. Dreams of Spring
Exhibited at The JamFactory‘s Purple Space during September 2004, Dreams of Spring sees Zara combining glass and silver into glamorous neckpieces which subtely reference Chinese & Japanese floral motifs.

SOFA Chicago

Maureen Cahill, Director of the Glass Artists’ Gallery exhibited Zara’s evocative glass and copper drawings at both 2001 and 2002 SOFA (Sculpture Objects & Functional Art) Exposition in Chicago, USA.

Gas Conference New York 2000

A collection of voyeuristic drawings in glass & copper wire, mounted in small frames. Zara’s work aims “to draw the viewer in for closer observation, to let them unravel the secrets behind the glass.” This body of work was awarded first prize at the Glass Art Society’s International Student Exhibition in Brooklyn, New York in 2000 and chosen as a finalist in the RFC Glass Prize (now called the Ranamok Glass Prize). www.glassart.org
